Global warming is increasing vulnerability of societies due to climate change chiefly lies in extreme weather events effects rather than slow climate change. Climate change effects include negative effects of small islands. There are aboriginal populations within high-latitude areas as well as discernible and small human health impacts. In the 21st century, there have been climate changes that have adverse effects on people through amplified coastal flooding, decreased water supplies, enlarged health impacts and malnutrition (Cherry & Braasch, 2008). The government realizes that the economic effects of climate changes are uncertain. Global warming can lead to gains or losses in global GDP. Above 2.50C, research suggests losses in global GDP with higher temperatures losses.
The government is the custodian of the wishes of their subjects, and seeks to ensure that the rights of the society are protected (Kamm, 2004). In most cases, the government and the legal institutions succumb to the wishes of the majority in the society. What this means is that that the laws that are made to govern euthanasia should receive support from a majority of the population (Portmore, 2011). Whether the government and legal institutions support euthanasia will be determined by whether they are liberals or not. Most liberal countries such as Canada have allowed for physically assisted death. From a consequential perspective, the government should be aimed at protecting the universal rights of individuals (Portmore, 2011). This includes the need to protect their privacy, and the right to do as they wish, provided the individuals do not break the law. Thus, liberal government beliefs that an individual has the right to live, and also to decide whether to end their lives. On the other hand, though, the deontologists expect the government and the legal institutions to respect the life, which according to them is sacred. According to them, the government should aim at improving the institutions of health to provide quality health (Portmore, 2011). The government should regulate euthanasia since it will make the physicians take advantage of the situation to end the lives of their patients, even when it is not necessary. The deontologists believe that the government should seek to preserve good morals, which includes treating life with respect.
